HTC ‘Ocean Life’ may be launched as the U11 Life later this year

It seems like HTC may be planning to launch a new version of its current flagship smartphone, the U11. Android Authority reports that the HTC Ocean Lifesmartphone, which was leaked last month, will launch as the HTC U11 Life later this year. The phone is tipped to be a smaller version of the U11 with a 5.2-inch Full HD display. However, the phone is tipped to come with the company’s Edge Sense, which would mean that the company is planning to bring the feature to non-flagship devices.

In the leak back in July, it was reported that the phone might feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 platform. However, Android Authority notes that the phone might instead come with a Snapdragon 630. While the amount of RAM is unknown, the phone is tipped to offer 32GB of storage, that may be expanded by up to 2TB via a microSD card. The report also notes that the HTC U11 Life may come with IP67 certification and may come bundled with the company’s USonic earbuds with active noise cancellation. However, since the USonic earbuds feature a USB-Type C port, it is possible that the U11 Life might not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The HTC U11 was launched in India a couple of months ago at Rs 51,990. The device sports a 5.5-inch QHD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 835 platform. At the back of the device is a 12MP camera with a f/1,7 aperture lens and OIS. At the front is a 16MP camera. The device is the first to come with Edge Sense, a feature that uses frame-embedded sensors to recognise when the user squeezes the phone. These squeezes can be used to launch apps.
