HMD Global will be attending the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February where it is expected to launch a few Nokia phones much like last year. On Friday, HMD’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas tweeted that the company’s event will take place on February 24. At this event, we expect to finally see the much-rumoured Nokia 9 PureView flagship smartphone. Apart from this, HMD may unveil a few more devices, one of which could be the Nokia 6.2.
The tweet only mentions the date for the MWC 2019 event without revealing anything further. Of course, there are plenty of theories on what the company will announce next month. The most logical assumption is that HMD will announce the penta-camera Nokia 9 PureView. The phone has been talked about all through last year and was expected to launch months ago, but it now seems like the flagship will go official at MWC 2019.
Another Nokia phone we have been hearing about is the Nokia 6.2, which will succeed last year’s Nokia 6.1. Interestingly, some alleged renders of the Nokia 6.2 suggest a redesign especially with the display. The Nokia 6.2 is said to come with a punch-hole display like the Galaxy A8s and Honor View 20.
Talking about the Nokia 9 PureView, pretty much everything is known about this flagship already. The phone is set to come with five rear cameras, a Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The flagship is also expected to ship with Android 9 Pie and will be part of the Android One program. The Nokia 9 PureView is said to sport a 5.99-inch 2K display with HMD’s PureDisplay screen technology.
Some reports have also detailed the pricing of the Nokia 9 PureView, claiming that the flagship will cost EUR 749 or EUR 799. A direct conversion puts the price in India between Rs 60,000 to Rs 63,000. This means the Nokia 9 PureView will either be as expensive or costlier than last year’s Nokia 8 Sirocco.
Meanwhile, the Nokia 6.2 is said to come with a 6.2-inch display with a hole in the screen to house a selfie camera. Additionally, the phone will also come with dual cameras on the back with Zeiss optics. The Nokia 6.2 is said to come with a Snapdragon 632, which would be a minor bump over the Nokia 6.1 that offers a Snapdragon 630 chipset. The Nokia 6.2 could come with 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
HMD will likely announce a few more devices, some of which will likely be successor to last year’s models, but details around that are slim at the moment. The company should soon announce the exact time of the event on February 24 as well.
