HIGHLIGHTS

  • Teaser says “The next big thing is coming”
  • The Galaxy C9 is expected to pack 6GB of RAM
  • The Galaxy C9’s specifications were leaked last month

Even though Samsung may be going through a most tumultuous time in the history of its smartphone business, it seems like it is refusing to give up. The company has reportedly taken the decision to temporarily halt the production of its flagship device Galaxy Note 7 due to safety concerns, but it hasn’t stopped it from teasing the launch of another smartphone.

Samsung has posted a teaser for the launch of its next smartphone on Chinese website Weibo. In the teaser, the company says, “The next big thing is coming.” The smartphone in the teaser appears to be much-rumoured and metal-clad Samsung Galaxy C9, which was spotted in benchmark listing last month.

As per the listing on the benchmark website Geekbench, the smartphone is expected to don a 6-inch display and be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm CPU clocked at 1.4GHz. Samsung Galaxy C9 is further expected to pack 6GB of RAM, which will make it the first phone by the South Korean company to sport such amount of memory.

Even though Samsung was rumoured to introduce a 6GB variant of Galaxy Note 7 for China, the company eventually went ahead with 4GB of RAM variant for the country just like the rest of the world.

In terms of optics, Samsung Galaxy C9 is expected to pack a 16-megapixel camera at rear as well as front. The rear camera is also tagged with an LED flash. The smartphone is expected to come with a fingerprint scanner and is tipped to house a 4000mAh battery.

However, we will have to wait for an official word by the company before anything can be confirmed.
