Lenovo-owned Moto has scheduled its next product launch event to be held at the Motorola headquarters in Chicago, US. The event will be held at 2pm CDT (12:30am IST, August 3) on August 2. As per the description on the official announcement video, the news in August will bring about a “whole new way to connect, stream, download, video chat, and more.” Going by the looks of it, we could expect Moto’s next flagship – the Moto Z3 – to make an appearance alongside the previously rumoured Moto One and Moto One Power, now said to be called Motorola One and Motorola One Power.
In a video published on the company’s official US YouTube channel, Motorola made clear its intentions to launch products at an event slated for August 2. In a statement to The Verge, Motorola claimed that this announcement will “change the way people use and interact with their phones.” While this could point towards a different smartphone concept, the report suggests this is Moto’s way of building up for the Moto Z3. Its predecessor, Moto Z2 Force was launched about a year ago in July 2017.
Recently, we have seen the rumour mill churning out a lot of news around Moto’s next anticipated Android One-based smartphones, the Moto One and Moto One Power. Android Headlines reports that the company is planning to use the Motorola name rather than Moto for the Android Onesmartphones, and has shared leaked renders of both the smartphones alongside. Previous rumours tip the Motorola One Power is expected to be part of the mid-range segment with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC and 4GB of RAM.
As per recent renders and leaks, the phone might be the first phone from the Motorola bandwagon to sport an iPhone X-like notch and a vertical dual rear camera setup. Android Headlines renders for the smartphone corroborate the previous renders, and it appears both the Motorola One and Motorola One Power are nearly identical, with the former said to have a smaller form factor and possibly lower battery capacity. The report claims the Motorola One and Motorola One Power will have almost identical front and back panels, with slightly different rear camera module shapes.
As for specifications, not much is available regarding the Motorola One yet. For the Motorola One Power, however, we have a good idea considering the last few leaks have given out substantial information. The smartphone is expected to arrive with a 6.2-inch full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, 64GB of inbuilt storage, and a 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel rear camera combo.
