Lenovo-owned Motorola has started sending media invites to an event in Mumbai on December 13, where it will unveil the Moto M smartphone. The invitation reads, “Mesmerizing, masterful, majestic (just like you)”, followed by a picture of smartphone’s back. The invite makes it very clear the smartphone is indeed Moto M, which went on sale in China last month.
Motorola M is an altogether a new smartphone from the Moto Z marker. It bears no similarities with the company’s existing Moto M or Moto Z series. It is a metal smartphone with rounded edges and antenna lines running near the top and bottom. For the first time, Motorola has added a fingerprint scanner on the back. Generally, Motorola’s smartphones feature a square fingerprint scanner embedded on the front.
Moto M will be a powerful smartphone in the mid-end segment. It features a large 5.5-inch FHD (1920×1080) with 2.5D curved glass. The smartphone comes with a MediaTek Helio P15 quad-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The 3050mAh battery supports Turbo Charging technology like other Motorola phones. The 4G LTE smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. The smartphone supports Dolby Audio support, and is also water and dust proof.
It will be interesting to see how the Moto M is priced in India. It’s being speculated the phone could be priced at Rs 18,000, when it gets launched on December 13. However, it will be interesting to see how Moto M will going to compete against Lenovo Z2 Plus, which starts at Rs 17,999 and goes up to Rs 19,999. Comparatively, Lenovo Z2 Plus features a Snapdragon 820 processor and is available in two options: 3GB RAM/32GB ROM and 4GB RAM/64GB ROM.
