Knox Manage XR Roadmap: When Will XR Device Management Arrive?

How Samsung's Knox Partner Program can build your bu... | Samsung Knox

Extended reality (XR) is rapidly shifting from a futuristic concept to a practical tool for businesses. Whether it’s immersive training, virtual collaboration, or on-site assistance, companies are beginning to integrate XR into everyday operations. With this growing adoption comes a key concern for IT teams: how will these devices be managed at scale?

Google has already taken a major step by enabling Android Enterprise support for XR devices, allowing them to be managed alongside traditional endpoints like smartphones and tablets. Building on this, Samsung has outlined a phased approach to bring XR device management into Knox Manage.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming, when to expect it, and how organizations can prepare.

Why XR Device Management Is Gaining Momentum

The journey begins with the release of official XR device firmware on April 7, 2026. This update enables Android Enterprise–based management capabilities for XR hardware. However, firmware alone isn’t enough to fully integrate these devices into Knox Manage.

Because XR devices differ significantly from conventional mobile hardware—both in interface and use cases—support within Knox Manage is being introduced gradually. The groundwork is being laid first, followed by expanded management capabilities in subsequent updates.

Phase One: Initial XR Management (Knox Manage v26.06)

The first step arrives with version 26.06 of Knox Manage. This release introduces basic XR device management using Android Enterprise policies.

At this stage, only a limited set of policy controls will be available, reflecting the unique nature of XR devices. IT administrators will configure these settings through the existing Android Enterprise section in the Knox Manage console, as a dedicated XR interface is not yet included.

Key highlights of v26.06:

  • XR devices become manageable within Knox Manage
  • Android Enterprise policies serve as the initial control layer
  • No dedicated XR management UI yet

This release essentially lays the foundation, allowing organizations to start experimenting with XR device management in real-world environments.

Phase Two: Full XR Support (Knox Manage v26.10)

A more complete experience arrives with Knox Manage v26.10, where XR device management becomes fully integrated.

This version introduces a dedicated XR management interface within the console, making it easier for IT teams to configure policies and oversee XR deployments.

What v26.10 brings:

  • Official, full-scale XR device support
  • A dedicated XR management menu
  • Enhanced and streamlined policy configuration

In simple terms, while v26.06 enables initial functionality, v26.10 delivers a refined and comprehensive management experience.

Getting Ready for XR Device Management

XR devices are set to become a new class of enterprise endpoints, and their management needs will evolve as adoption increases. By rolling out support in stages, Knox Manage gives organizations the flexibility to start early while benefiting from continuous improvements.

For IT teams planning XR deployments, this roadmap provides clarity: XR device management in Knox Manage is on the way—and the rollout begins this year.
