HMD Global, at the launch of Nokia 8 announced that all the Nokia smartphoneslaunched in 2017 will taste the Android P upgrade. Company’s Country Manager, Shannon Mead confirmed that all existing Nokia smartphones including the Nokia 8, Nokia 6, 5 and 3 will be upgraded. However, Google is yet to announce the Android P update.
Google is expected to announce the next iteration of its Android operating system at company’s annual I/O event in May. However, the final roll out for Nokia devices won’t take place until November next year.
HMD Global recently unveiled its Nokia 8 smartphone for the Indian market at a price of Rs 36,990. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The smartphone sports a 5.3-inch QHD IPS LCD display protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass. The smartphone is built of 6000 series aluminium, which Nokia claims to be extremely durable.
The Nokia 8’s highlight is its ZEISS camera — a 13MP wide-angle sensor with another 13MP monochrome sensor. The front camera also sports a 13MP sensor, which can help users take boathies — selfie + photo from the rear camera. The Nokia 8 also comes with OZO 360-degree spatial audio.
The Nokia 8 is powered by a 3090mAh battery, which can be charged from a USB Type-C port. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat, which will be upgraded to Android Oreo.
