HTC Desire 19+ may launch in India soon as company looks to make a comeback

HTC has been out of the smartphone game for a while now, but it looks ready to make a comeback. The company revived its official India-based Twitter account to tease the launch of a brand new HTC smartphone. This will be the first major HTC smartphone launch since the Desire 12 series last year. The upcoming smartphone is expected to be the Desire 19+ with a waterdrop display.

The teaser posted by HTC India’s Twitter handle starts by looking back at the company’s contribution in the smartphone world. It launched the HTC Touch in 2007, which was the world’s first touch-centric phone. In 2008, HTC launched the world’s first Google Android smartphone and in 2016 it brought the first phone with OIS for the back and front cameras. The teaser ended by revealing an outline of a phone with a waterdrop notch, which suggests it could be the HTC Desire 19+.

The Desire 19+ was launched back in June in Taiwan with a price starting TWD 9,900 (approx Rs 22,400) for the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The company also launched a 6GB + 128GB costs TWD 10,990 (approx Rs 24,900).

The Desire 19+ sports a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a teardrop notch. It is powered by a Helio P35 chipset paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. The Desire 19+ features a triple camera setup that includes a 13MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 5MP depth sensor. Up front, the smartphone gets a 16MP selfie camera. The smartphone packs a 3,850mAh battery.
