Nokia 5.2 may be in the works, India launch expected to happen soon

Nokia 5.1

HMD Global is back with full power in the smartphone business. 2018 was HMD’s comeback year and ever since then, the company has launched several popular Nokia phones, the latest one being the Nokia 9 PureView. Looks like HMD is in no mood to stop anytime soon. The FCC certification website suggests that a new Nokia phone is in the works. A phone appearing on the FCC listing hints that it is coming soon. Some reports suggest the listed phone may be the successor to the Nokia 5.1 aka the Nokia 5.2. HMD Global is yet to confirm the coming of Nokia 5.2.

The FCC listing has revealed some details about the upcoming/listed Nokia phone. The alleged Nokia phone is listed with several model numbers. And all of them have been approved by the certification site. The phone is spotted with model numbers — TA-1188, 1183 and TA-1184.

It is believed that TA-1188 is the global version of the upcoming Nokia phone. While the TA-1183 and TA-1184 are the Indian and Chinese version of the same phone. To recollect, previously the TA-1188 was certified by Russia’s Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), yet again hinting this model to be the global version of the phone.

Besides the model numbers, the FCC listing further reveals the codename of Nokia phone. It is said to be “Wasp”. The certification website also reveals that the Nokia phone will have a 3GB RAM version and a 32GB storage variant. We expect that there could be other models of the phone too. The list further suggests that the Nokia phone will come with a 6.1-inch display and will measure 145.96mm in length and 70.56mm in width.

The FCC listing also reveals that the Nokia phone will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is great considering most brands are looking to ditch the audio jack now. The Nokia TA-1184 model of the phone is said to come with dual SIM support, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and support for LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, and 17. 7.

Considering the specs, it is expected that this Nokia phone will be a mid-range device. Rumours suggest that this Nokia device could actually be the Nokia 5.2 – the successor to the Nokia 5.1 that was launched in India some months ago. In India, currently, the Nokia 5.1 sells for starting price of Rs 10,999. The phone comes in three colours – Black, Tempered Blue and Copper.
