LG to launch a W-series smartphone with triple rear camera setup exclusive to Amazon in India soon

LG W series

LG is grearing for a major launch event in India. After launching the LG V40 ThinQ in India earlier this year, LG is planning to launch a new W-series smartphone in India that would be exclusively available on Amazon India’s e-retail platform.

As per the details available on Amazon India, LG’s upcoming W-series phone would target the budget segment of the Indian smartphone market and it would come with a triple rear camera setup that will be powered by artificial intelligence – a feature we have also seen in some of LG’s older flagship phones such as the LG G7 ThinQ and the LG V40 ThinQ as well. The images of the phone’s photography prowess shared on the e-retail platform indicate that it would come with a standard and a wide-angle lens. Coupled with the front camera, the Korean electronic giant’s upcoming budget smartphone would offer five camera modes -normal, front camera selfie, night mode, portrait mode and bokeh mode.

In terms of the colours, LG’s W-series smartphone would be available in three ‘futuristic’ colours – sea green, black and electric blue. The interesting factor about the phone, however, will be its notch. LG, as a part of its user interface customisations allows users to pick between a regular notch and a display with bezels. Now, the company is tweaking this a bit. Apart from a display with bezels on top, LG is allowing users to pick between two notch options – a water drop notch and a dot drop notch.

Other than that, the images of the upcoming phone shared by Amazon reveal that the phone would have a gradient back with a metallic finish and a vertically stacked rear camera setup with a camera sensor that will be highlighted by a red circle. While the phone’s fingerprint sensor would be placed in the top quadrant of the phone’s back, its volume control keys and power button would be placed on the right side of the phone with the SIM card tray placed on the left side.

It is worth noting that these details are similar to a previous report by 91 Mobiles wherein the publication wrote that LG would launch an online exclusive budget smartphone specially for the Indian market.

The Amazon listing doesn’t reveal much about the phone’s key specs, such as its processor and RAM details or its camera configuration but with the phone popping up on Amazon India, we anticipate that the phone is nearing its launch and we shall know more about the phone soon.
