Microsoft’s answer to Band syncing problems with Windows 10 Mobile build 14283: learn another language!

Build 14283 was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring just yesterday, carrying with it a number of improvements to the Phone, Outlook Mail and Calendar app and other fixes. As usual for a Fast ring build, there are also a few known issues, detailed in the post – among which one stood out for having a very interesting solution. Yes, we are talking about the Microsoft Band syncing problem.

Apparently, the update will cause a system API failure that will stop your Microsoft Band from syncing with your phone despite being paired. The team has not yet provided a fix to eliminate the problem, which affects both the Band 1 and 2; however, there is a temporary solution which may require you to tap into your inner linguist: changing your phone’s language.

In fact, WinBeta’s very own Kip Kniskern posed this conundrum to Gabe Aul, the Build Giver. The repsonse then came from another source – Microsoft’s software engineer and community champ Jen Gentleman, and at this point we probably should thank Microsoft for paying so much attention to differences between English dialects over the world all these years.

While it’s only a temporary solution as stated – in fact the team expect it to also come in the next build unless they are able to fix it – at least you can now find solace in the fact that you don’t need to learn Spanish to use your Band normally (although maybe that’s not a bad idea!)
