Nokia 4.2 India launch on May 7, HMD teases phone with LED power button

Nokia 4.2 India launch set for May 7, HMD teases phone with LED power button

HMD Global is finally ready to bring its 2019 Nokia phones to India. To recall, the company announced the Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 201 at MWC 2019. It also announced the Nokia X71 in Taiwan in April. So far, none of these phones have made it to India, but that won’t be the case come May 7. HMD on Friday announced the Nokia 4.2 India launch on May 7 via a teaser video that shows a LED power button.

The Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 are HMD’s first phone to come with a unique notification LED power button. This means that the power button on the side of the device lights up whenever you receive a notification like a message or a missed call. The short teaser video posted by the company on Twitter shows the halo notification light illuminating around the power button, which suggests the launch of the Nokia 4.2. It is possible that the company may also announce the Nokia 3.2 on May 7 as well.

We were expecting the Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 to launch in India for a while now since they’re the only new phones to be listed on Nokia’s official Indian website. These are affordable Nokia phones that should fall under the Rs 10,000 price segment considering the Nokia 5.1 is priced around Rs 10,000.

Apart from the LED power button, the Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 are also the first set of Nokia phones to come with a dedicated Google Assistant button, which makes sense for these Anroid One device. HMD hopes that the Assistant button will make it easier and more convenient for users to access Assistant on the go.

As for the specs, the Nokia 4.2 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The handset is powered by a Snapdragon 439 chipset paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and up to 32GB of internal storage. The Nokia 4.2 offers a 2.5D curved glass on the front and back along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Nokia 4.2 comes with dual-camera setup on the rear. The primary camera uses a 13-megapixel image sensor paired with a F2.2. The secondary 2-megapixel camera is used to capture depth information. On the front, the Nokia 4.2 sports an 8-megapixel camera. The handset houses a 3,000mAh battery. HMD will announce the price and availability of the Nokia 4.2 (and maybe the Nokia 3.2) on Tuesday, May 7.
